Mac Miller’s New Release: Good News

Although Mac Miller is gone his legacy lives on through his work, both past and present. On January 9th, 2020 the Miller Estate released Mac’s first posthumous piece of work, Good News along with a music video. The video was directed by Anthony Gaddis and Eric Tilford and it features an animated tribute of a journey through time with clips of Miller, both old and more recent.

The new single did immensely well upon its release, voted as this weeks favorite new song by Billboard and made it on the top ten Genius chart.  Good News is one of twelve songs on Circles which will be released on January 17th, an album that Miller had been working on prior to his death with producer Jon Brion.

Circles Tracklist:

  1. Circles
  2. Complicated
  3. Blue World
  4. Good News
  5. I Can See
  6. Everybody
  7. Woods
  8. Hand Me Downs

The Miller Estate released a statement revealing that Mac had intended Circles to be a counterpart to his last LP Swimming, which Brion also collaborated on, completing the idea of ‘swimming in circles’. Brion understood Mac’s vision and he worked immensely hard after Miller’s death to see that the body of work was completed in the way which Mac would have wanted.

Along with the release of Circles there will be various pop up exhibitions throughout the US to celebrate the album and Miller. These events are intended to honor his art and legacy, and will include listening sessions of Circles as well as fan art exhibitions and merchandise for purchase. These free events are first come first serve and the merchandise profits will go directly to The Mac Miller Fund. Locations are in LA, NYC, and Pittsburg, and will be open from noon to nine pm.
