The Billboard Hot 100 Charts are constantly changing, consisting of a mix of rappers, rising stars, international phenomenons, current icons, legacy artists, and more. Artists that have long established themselves as talented, popular icons in the music industry know how to maintain their position, and continue to reign at the top of the charts. One of these artists being Taylor Swift, the queen of pop. The former country turned pop star has been an icon since the 2000s, and continues to bring us new albums and singles, while frequently diversifying her vibe. Her hard work has paid off as her newest release has made shocking history in the music industry.
Not only has her recent hit “Cardigan” quickly risen to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, but her whole new album, “Folklore”, has also reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. The entire album has enjoyed skyrocketing acclaim, however the impressive achievements do not stop there. In fact, 16 of the singles from “Folklore” are currently on the Hot 100 Singles Chart. Two more of those songs, “The 1”, and “Exile”, featuring the indie band Bon Iver, have also made it to the top 10 on the charts, placing No. 4 and No. 6 respectively. These collaborations with Bon Iver allowed Taylor Swift to delve deeply into an indie style, which is not her typical music genre. She has shown an ongoing open-mindedness and willingness to diversify her style, and clearly it is working out for her. Additionally, she has set a bold new record among female artists, having the most number of songs simultaneously released by a female artist on Billboard Hot 100. In fact, she is breaking her own record of 14 songs making it on Billboard Hot 100 in September of 2019. On top of that, and probably the most impressive accomplishment thus far, she has become the first woman ever in Billboard history to have two songs in the top 5 of the chart in the same week.
