Mezz Music Mondays Feature: The Bourbon Brothers

February 17, 2021

Here at Mezz Entertainment, we celebrate all types of music through our diverse clients and the variety of artists we feature in our Mezz Music Mondays Playlist. This week, we will be featuring The Bourbon Brothers with their single “Burning Out Moonlight”, now featured on our playlist.

The Bourbon Brothers began as a songwriting project between lead singer Lance and guitarist/vocalist Brendan while they were serving at the Marine Corps Air station in Yuma, Arizona. The pair took their songs to Spot Studios in Denver, Colorado to record two singles: “Burning Out Moonlight” and “I’ll Take It From Here”. After recording their songs and feeling so inspired, they submitted “Burning Out Moonlight” to the International Songwriting Competition where it became a finalist in the Country category before it was even released.

While their career was beginning to develop, Brendan continued to serve as a Sergeant on and off for about a year and a half. Realizing his passion for music, he decided to deny orders and relocate with Lance to Orlando, Florida to study and pursue music full-time. He said it was not only a leap of faith to study music production and recording arts at Full Sail University, but also a leap of faith, “to pursue the band as a business professional.”

Before their move to Florida, Lance and Brendan meet Nick, Logan, and Rich through Facebook ads and Craigslist. After meeting and talking over their goals, they all committed to starting a band and pursuing music. Since then, they have been writing songs and rehearsing as “The Bourbon Brothers” while they prepare for live shows in Florida.

This week’s Mezz Music Mondays Playlist on Spotify features their single, “Burning Out Moonlight”. The song’s lyrics were originally written by Lance and another Army Veteran, Josh Howard. Brendan completed the song adding the chords and backing music. When writing the song, they explain how the inspiration was already in the air and they used that as their catalyst. As described by the band, “Burning Out Moonlight” starts out with “incredible imagery” accompanied by some “punchy hooks and loud guitars” to make the song come to life.

The Bourbon Brothers are just getting started and as they’ve grown as a group, their music style has also grown and shifted. While this single is more of a Country song, they describe their new EP as more of a “Southern Rock” sound. If you love “Burning Out Moonlight” the members of the Bourbon Brothers know you will love “County Line Road” off of their upcoming EP and their other single “I’ll Take It From Here”, which pays homage to two fellow veterans that have since passed. They hope you can relate to the lyrics and energy in both of these songs.

Like many other new artists, The Bourbon Brothers found Mezz Entertainment on Instagram and submitted to our playlist to promote their single as they look forward to the release of their new EP in July. In regards to how social media has helped them attract an audience, they explain how it has been incredibly helpful in building their current audience and that they plan to utilize it more in the future for more music promotion.
